A native of middle Tennessee, Mike has called this area home most of his life. He's also lived in Illinois and Oregon.
Mike grew up on a dairy farm in the Statesville community - a quaint little place in southeastern Wilson county. He remembers a very "Mayberry-esque" upbringing. After attending Lipscomb University earning a B.A. in 1976, Mike married his college sweetheart Karen. They have a son and two daughters. He currently serves as Director of The Timothy Network, a non-profit discipling ministry based in Murfreesboro.
Mike's interest in art started with coloring books and drawing when he was a child. As a young boy he also discovered his mom's Polaroid Brownie and became fascinated with cameras. Doodling, drawing, and painting-by-numbers occupied a lot of his interest during childhood. He remembers this interest mostly fading after receiving a camera for Christmas when he was a teenager.
It was after taking an entry level photography class in college that Mike became "thoroughly and forever hooked." Photography has been his main hobby and a mesmerizing pastime ever since. Work with abstract subject matter is his current passion.
Mike's photography has been displayed at Murfreesboro's Center for the Arts and is currently being shown at the Rockvale Art Gallery.
